The rehabilitation of the Late Zahia Hanoun Children’s Wing represents a significant development for the Ittihad Hospital in Nablus. The Munib & Angela Masri Foundation supported the renovation of the wing in 2001. The wing is named in honor of the mother of the Foundation’s founder, Mr. Munib R. Masri.
This support contributed to improving the level of healthcare services provided by the hospital. Today, the ward is considered one of the hospital’s most prominent and well-equipped departments. It covers an area of 300 square meters and includes seven rooms equipped to receive patients, in addition to offices for nursing administration and support services within the department. The ward receives around 350 cases each month and provides specialized healthcare services for women and children in line with high standards of medical care.
The hospital operates under the Arab Women Union Society, one of the most prominent charitable and community organizations led by Palestinian women. The Society was founded in Nablus in 1921 and has since been managed by successive elected administrative boards composed of leading women from the city who have made a lasting contribution to the development of charitable and community work in Palestine.
Over the years, the Society has established several national institutions that serve different segments of the community, including the Dar Al-Yatimat Center, the Al-Noor Center for Blind Women, the Al-Hajjah Andaleeb Al-Amad College for Nursing and Midwifery, and the Arab Women Union Kindergarten, in addition to the hospital.
