Palestine 2050
The Comprehensive Spatial Plan for the State of Palestine 2050 is a vision that founder Munib R. Masri has meticulously worked towards. Fully funded by the Munib & Angela Masri Foundation, this plan aims to establish a long-term future vision for comprehensive development, ensuring optimal use of available resources and capabilities while maintaining environmental balance and sustainable development. It serves as a guiding tool for regional and local planning and as a regulatory framework for Palestinian development plans, paving the way for an independent Palestinian state.
Implemented based on a memorandum of understanding signed between the Masri Foundation and the Ministry of Local Government in 2020, this project involved an advisory team of about 20 Palestinian experts across various development sectors.
The plan includes the spatial projection of current and proposed land uses at the national level, natural environments and national parks, valuable agricultural lands, historical and cultural landmarks, environmentally sensitive areas such as nature reserves and those connected to groundwater, geologically or geographically hazardous areas (such as earthquake and flood zones), existing and proposed urban and rural development areas, proposed new city centers, transportation networks and facilities (airports, roads, railways, ports, and crossings), energy sources and national distribution networks, alternative energy, water sources and national distribution networks, solid waste recycling areas, basic and social service centers at the national level, economic development areas (industry, agriculture, trade, and tourism), special development areas at the national level, regional connectivity between geographically separated areas of the state, and regional infrastructure connectivity.
